Leeds United will swap the football pitch for the streets of North London this weekend as the club takes part in the Red Bull Soapbox Race at Alexandra Palace on Saturday 20 June. The event, hosted by club partner Red Bull, challenges teams to design, build, and race homemade soapbox vehicles down a custom-built downhill course. Representing the Whites will be former players Stuart Dallas and Jermaine Beckford, who will take the wheel of a giant peacock-inspired creation in honour of the club's famous nickname.
Leeds will line up alongside teams from across the sporting and entertainment world, including Virgin Radio, Apres All Stars, and Freenessie. This year, there will also be a Premier League flavour to the proceedings, with fellow top-flight clubs Aston Villa, Crystal Palace, Everton, Fulham, and Newcastle United all entering teams of their own. The Red Bull Soapbox Race is renowned for combining speed with spectacle, as competitors are judged not only on their race times but also on creativity, showmanship, and team spirit.
Expect elaborate costumes, daring designs, dramatic crashes, and plenty of chaos as teams attempt to navigate the twists, turns, and obstacles of the course. First staged in Belgium in 2000, the event has grown into a global phenomenon, with more than 100 races taking place around the world. This year's edition promises another memorable day of entertainment, with thousands of spectators expected to line the course at Alexandra Palace.
Tickets for the event have now sold out; however, fans can still get involved by entering a competition to win two tickets to the Red Bull Soapbox Race 2026, as well as the chance to meet the Leeds United legends on the day.
