Nico Elvedi is available for Leeds United's Premier League trip to Bournemouth this weekend. Manager Daniel Farke confirmed the Swiss international defender has recovered from the illness that kept him out of last weekend's goalless draw at Sunderland. That result on Sunday 25 October was part of a recent run of one win, three draws and one loss in their last five league games.
"Nico is way better. He is back in training. As it stands, he is available for this game," Farke said. Elvedi had started the previous five league matches before missing the Sunderland fixture, where Jaka Bijol took his place.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who played through a foot issue at the Stadium of Light, is also fully fit. The striker, who is Leeds' top scorer this season with three goals in eight appearances, will be in contention for the Vitality Stadium clash. His goal in the 1-1 draw with Manchester United on Sunday 18 October is a key part of the nine goals the team has scored this season, while conceding only six.
There is further positive news on Joe Rodon. The defender, who suffered a hamstring injury in the 1-1 draw with Brentford at the end of August, has rejoined team training. His initial prognosis was an eight to ten week absence. "He just needs session after session after being out for so long but a way better situation than it was last week," Farke noted.
Noah Okafor, who missed the Sunderland game, has had a good training week and is available. Dan James is also building fitness in his second full week of training. The only major doubt is Anton Stach, who is still struggling with a foot injury. Farke said there is a "question mark" over the midfielder's availability for the next 48 hours.
Marco Rose's team have scored 14 goals without reply in their last five games. Leeds, currently ten points behind leaders Manchester City, will need to deliver a high-intensity performance to improve on a recent run of one win in five. Their next fixture is away to 13th-placed Bournemouth on Saturday 31 October.
