Leeds United fans have been voted the loudest away supporters in Britain following a country-wide survey. The result comes from Midnite's 'Built Different Index' research, which polled 6,000 fans across the English football pyramid.
Leeds Live reported the findings this week, revealing that 9.6% of all respondents selected the Elland Road faithful as having the most vocal travelling support. This placed them ahead of Millwall (8.5%), Newcastle United (6.6%), Manchester United (5.9%), and Liverpool (5.6%) in the overall top five. The survey specifically asked fans: 'who do you think has the loudest away fans at your ground?'
The research was conducted as part of Midnite's Built Different Index initiative, which aimed to settle long-standing debates among supporters. Andrew Monk, Midnite’s Head of Marketing, explained the project's goal. "We asked questions that everyone has been thinking about but no one really knew what the definitive answer was," he said. Monk added, "At Midnite, we love to engage with fans and this survey represented an opportunity to learn what fans from all 92 clubs in Britain think about each other."
Interestingly, the poll revealed that fans often named their direct rivals as having the loudest away following. This pattern was evident in responses like Liverpool fans selecting Everton and vice versa.
While Leeds United topped the overall vote from all four divisions, the breakdown by league produced different leaders. Among Premier League clubs only, Newcastle United ranked first with 12.2% of the vote. In the Championship, Millwall supporters were voted the loudest, receiving 14.2% of the votes from fellow second-tier fans.
The recognition for Leeds' travelling support arrives as the first team enjoys a solid start to the 2026/27 Premier League campaign. Daniel Farke's side currently sits 8th in the standings with four points from their opening two matches, following a win and a draw. Their recent form reads DW, with two goals scored and just one conceded for a +1 goal difference. They are two points behind early leaders Manchester City.
The team prepares for its next challenge with a few selection concerns. Key players Ilia Gruev, Joe Rodon, and Mateo Joseph are currently sidelined. Their absence will test the squad's depth in the coming weeks.
