Leeds United midfielder Charlie Crew is expected to seal a move away from the club before the summer transfer window closes. Crew, 19, has been with the club since 2022 and has made just one senior appearance. According to The Athletic, Crew is expected to begin pre-season at Thorp Arch but find a move away from LS11 before the window shuts. It remains to be seen whether the move in question will be a temporary one, or whether there will be a permanent parting of ways. Crew was loaned to Doncaster Rovers in January 2025 and helped the South Yorkshire club clinch the League Two title. He returned on loan for their League One campaign but was sent back to Elland Road in December. Upon his return to West Yorkshire, Leeds manager Daniel Farke admitted he had hoped to see Crew feature on a more regular basis. He said: "He will be with the under-21s during January in case we send him out on loan again because the last loan didn't go really to plan. We were hoping he would play more consistently. "Sometimes it's difficult, a loan. Sometimes it doesn't work but we have to find a good solution for him because he needs minutes at senior level and in proper games. If he is still here in February, then we’ll speak about if he returns to our squad or not." Crew is undeniably a gifted operator and was even described as a “tremendous footballer” by Doncaster boss Grant McCann mere months before his loan deal was cancelled. His second spell at Doncaster was not helped by his international commitments with Wales, believes McCann. Back in November, the Rovers manager said: "We've had conversations with Leeds and I've had conversations with Charlie and his agents to say when the November international break passes I think we'll start to see a more polished Charlie Crew. "I'm not saying he's not. He's training very well, he's a great kid, good attitude, wants to do well, tremendous footballer, but once it settles and this international break finishes, the next camp isn't until March. I think we'll see a more all-round Charlie Crew, a bit like we saw with PK (Patrick Kelly) last year." Crew made 24 appearances for Doncaster over the course of his two loan stints at the Eco-Power Stadium.
