Nico Elvedi could make his first debut for Leeds United as the club prepares for a trip to face Nottingham Forest on Tuesday night. Daniel Farke has confirmed that the new defender is fit and eligible to potentially see minutes in the upcoming Carabao Cup second round fixture.
The German defender arrived at Elland Road after an extensive 11-year tenure with Borussia Monchengladbach. During his time at Gladbach, Elvedi was a consistent presence, participating in nearly all pre-season matches. Farke noted that the signing has hit the ground running to integrate into the defensive setup quickly.
Daniel Farke said: "Nico is available, eligible to play and also in good rhythm. He has played more or less near all the pre-season games for Gladbach."
The manager expects to make changes to the starting lineup for the cup tie. This rotation allows Farke to use his squad depth while managing a busy schedule. All players who featured in the previous match on Saturday are considered available for the upcoming game against Forest.
Regarding fitness, there are no new injury concerns reported for Leeds United ahead of their second game of the season. However, the squad remains without Gabriel Gudmundsson, Mateo Joseph, and Wilfried Gnonto, who are currently sidelined.
